But everyone did not celebrate new year in January.Ancient Greeks celebrated the new year on December 20, Egyptians, Phoenicians, and Persians began their new year around September 20 and Mesopotamians celebrated it on March 20.The Mesopotamian new year is known to be the earliest recorded new year celebration.
